Peter Andersen Monthly Economic Report – Overview

Although the world’s newspapers are leading with stories of financial turmoil in Europe and US concerns about a second recession, Peter Andersen maintains this reporting is based on ‘soft data’ – that the hard economic indicators continue to point to moderate growth in Canada and the US.

Canadian business owners and leaders indicate they are trying to stay attuned to the hard data; according to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business’ Barometer Index, small business confidence in Canada held its own in September.  While there is concern the fiscal crises in the US and Europe could affect Canada, the operating plans and expectations for small business are tilted toward stability, if not to modest growth.

You can read the soft data on the CFIB website, and a discussion of the results on Business in Vancouver.

Members can read the hard data in the emailed Peter Andersen Report for September 30, 2011.
